Why
go to a traffic school?
Attendance of traffic school will normally prevent your moving violation
from appearing on your driving record. When authorized by the court,
this option may also reduce your court fees. Moving violations on
your driving record will normally lead to insurance premium increases.
Another
reason to attend a traffic school is to become a more responsible
driver, lower your chances of being involved in an accident, and
lower your chances of getting a ticket.
How
quickly can I finish this course?
The course is designed to take between six-eight (6-8) hours, or
the equivalent of a traditional in-class traffic school. The great
thing about this course, however, is that you work at your own pace.
No one is sitting over your shoulder making you slow down or speed
up. Everyone reads at different speeds and this program will allow
you to proceed at your own pace and there is no time maximum for
the program.
How
long does it take to get the certificate?
There are different ways of receiving the completion certificate.
Because of security reasons, it is impossible for you to print your
own certificate, so the original certificate must be sent directly
from our office to you. When you enroll, you may choose for regular
mail or expedited service.
Does
the course cost anything?
Unfortunately, there is a cost to attend the traffic school. $39.99
will cover all elements of the course including immediate access
to the site, attendance of the test site, and the completion certificate.
Regular in-class traffic schools charge similar fees. Traffic schools
are privately operated businesses and whether you sit in an eight-hour
class or choose this online program, you will need to pay for it.
How
can I pay for the course?
You can pay for the course two different ways, either by credit
card or by check/ money order. After you fill out the registration
form, you can be linked to a completely secure credit card page
where you pay quickly and effortlessly. The site is encrypted to
make your on-line purchase safe. The other way to pay for the course
is to mail a check or money order to the address listed below. Make
sure to send the check before you complete the course or your certificate
will not be mailed.
What
if my deadline for completion of traffic school has passed?
Contact your court for instructions regarding extension of your
due date. The New Mexico Online Traffic School cannot extend your
due date.
How
do I register for this course?
Registration for this course is quite simple. You can click HERE
and be taken to the online registration page. Just complete all
the appropriate fields and you can get started right away. You may
also call us at 877-972-4665 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to register
on the phone. Either way, it just takes minutes and you are able
to start right away.
Can
I use someone else's computer or Internet service?
That is what makes this course so easy and great! You can take this
from home, work, a friend or family's house, your local library,
or you can even rent time on the Internet at a copy/computer center.
Whatever computer you use, you simply need Internet access. You
can also start on your own computer and then finish on another.
*This program also works with WEBTV.
Must
I complete this course in one sitting?
The New Mexico Online Traffic School is designed for the person
who does not have a lot of time. The course is broken up into eleven
(11) sections, each individually timed. You can complete a 20 or
30 minute segment, for example, log off, and then log back on at
a later time, and the computer will record the section you have
completed. You can log on and off as many times as you wish until
you complete the program. You can also do the entire course in one
sitting.....it is up to you.
What
if I have no e-mail address?
Do not worry if you do not have an e-mail address, as one is not
needed to take this course. Any correspondence can be directly printed
off the program or be done via mail or telephone. On the registration
form under e-mail address, simply click on the no e-mail button,
if you do not have one. Or you may also use a friend's e-mail address
if you wish.
I
have already enrolled. How do I get back into the program?
If you have already enrolled, you have a username and password.
You may reenter those codes on our home page where instructed as
many times as necessary to access and complete the program or click
HERE for the login screen. If you have forgotten or lost your username
or password, give us a call at 877-972-4665.
I
just got knocked off line in the middle of a section. What do I
do now?
Many Internet users are knocked off line frequently. This may result
from a lost Internet connection, another call interrupting your
connection if you are on a single line with call waiting, or simply
because your own computer crashes. Remember, as you complete each
section of the course, your progress is logged. Completion of chapter
one, for example, cannot be lost if your answers are submitted to
the system and graded on screen. Being knocked off line at that
point, will only bring you back to the start of the next chapter,
it will not delete chapter one. The system cannot log your progress
if your connection is lost. This is an occurrence that only you
can avoid, not The New Mexico Online Traffic School.
Our
website is unable to control your Internet connection and inactivity
on your part will not result in our system knocking you off line.
Any activity requirements will be on the part of your Internet service
provider.
I
use AOL and I keep getting knocked off line. What should I do?
If you are using AOL as your Internet service provider, you will
have activity requirements while online. During some of the longer
sections requiring more minutes online, there is a chance AOL will
knock you off-line unless you remain interactive with AOL. Do not
leave the screen alone for any great length of time.....remain interactive
with the screen.
Are
there any special computer or download requirements to participate
in the course?
There are no videos to download in our program and no special requirements
at all of your computer. You only need to have your java script
and your "cookies" enabled. For the majority of computers, these
elements are enabled by default on your computer. If you are on
this screen and on our website, you can typically enroll and complete
the course without a problem.
| Can
I take the entire course from home or do I have to attend a
"test site"? |
| |
 |
The
majority of the course can be completed from home. The final
exam, however, must be taken at an official test site. At the
test site, a test proctor will verify your driver's license
and log you onto a special final exam screen. The 50 question
final usually takes under 30 minutes to complete and you will
know immediately if you have passed. Click
here for available test site times and locations. |
How
many times a year may I attend traffic school?
When authorized by a court, there is no limit to the number
of times you may attend traffic school in a year or a lifetime.
Are the tests "open book"?
Yes, all the tests, including the final, are open book. You
may browse the reading material while taking the test.
What happens if I fail the final? Can I take it
again?
You may take the final up to five times without having to pay a
retake fee.
